• Ph.D. in German language/literature, History, Philosophy, Doctoral dissertation published in 1982
• Summer studies in British history and economics at Oxford University, U.K., in 1979
• Doctoral fellowship from Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung, Germany, including research grant for University of California at San Diego in 1980
• Charles-Phelps-Taft-Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Cincinnati, OH, in 1985
• Accredited by the American Translators Association (ATA) in English to German translation since 1994
• Full-time independent contractor for German translation since 1994
• Up-to-date knowledge from continuing education seminars offered by ATA and various German professional associations for translators.
